SEVENTEEN is a K-pop group made up of 13 members, split into three units: Hip-Hop, Vocal and Performance. Formed by Pledis Entertainment (now under HYBE), the group debuted on May 26, 2015, and its fandom is called CARAT. Its distinctive trait: SEVENTEEN writes, composes and choreographs much of its own work. Here are the 13 members, unit by unit.

  • Seungkwan — Boo Seung-kwan, 1998, main vocalist and a huge variety-show energy.

The Performance unit

  • Hoshi — Kwon Soon-young, 1996, Performance unit leader and the brain behind the choreography.
  • Jun — Wen Junhui, 1996, Chinese, dancer and actor.
  • The8 — Xu Minghao, 1997, Chinese, dancer.
  • Dino — Lee Chan, 1999, dancer and "maknae" (the youngest).

A self-producing group

SEVENTEEN is known for its creative independence: Woozi composes most of the tracks, Hoshi designs the choreography, and the members take part in the writing. That's what explains their tight-knit identity despite a 13-member lineup.

SEVENTEEN fans are called CARAT: a diamond is measured in carats, and fans are the carats to the group's "diamond."
